About: Laurel & Russell & Snuffles ( & our new Cairn doggie Frankenstein)
" I've lived in Southern Utah for 5 years now and still have so much more exploring to do in this incredible place. Came from Boston, and Northern California and miss the ocean and running thru the woodlands coastal trails BUT the the geology, history, landscapes, native plants and everything else about the High Desert now fascinates me. I am a researcher/writer/ art historian and have worked in South America, South Africa, Europe, Greece & Turkey. I like to paint, hike, ride and enjoy our ever expanding garden (a couple from Moscow just proudly posed for photos holding 22" Armenian cucumbers from the garden!). Originally fell in love with this region after rowing a 2-man dory down the Colorado River through Grand Canyon, followed that adventure running the Grand Canyon Rim-to-Rim. Now I'm here for good! Russell and I enjoy meeting new people, and swapping life stories." ~~ Laurel
" I was a Rock Musician in Los Angeles and abroad for 20 years. Taught singing at the Oulunkylan Music Conservatory in Helsinki, Finland in the late 80's early 90's and now, in a certain shift of life, I'm an Interpretive Park Ranger with Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. For those who would like to hear a little of what I was up to way back then, you can go to Sun Man Music - and on the Helsinki Years page you will find samples of some of the songs I wrote and produced. Now, with years of experience behind me, I know both the back country and the paleontology of GSENM and other regional National Parks. We both definitely enjoy the cultural diversity of our guests and look forward to helping our guests enjoy their stay in the Southwest." ~~ Russell
"I was in a lot of trouble before these guys rescued me from a Puppy Mill, I'm so happy to change that metal cage I used to live in for hiking the Red Rocks of the South West and greeting our guests my tail just may fall off I'm wagging it so much!" ~~Snuffles
